‘Withdrawals’ is an eclectic pop track born from the mundane circumstance of forgetting to pick up your prescription and feeling yourself unravel. Under the guise of a quirky sample-driven song, ‘Withdrawals’ is subtly existential, sparking a wider commentary on the relationship we have with the things keeping us around.

The track was produced with Rich Harris-Bond at Wise Tree Studios, ironically extended over 18 months due to Lazygirl’s own withdrawal symptoms affecting creativity and motivation – something she likened to being underwater. This inspired the song’s captivating and immersive bridge, peppered with samples from Lazygirl’s childhood home videos at the seaside. Combined with its memorable hook, infectious melody lines and punchy percussion, the track is as deeply authentic as it is catchy.

‘Withdrawals’ presents the progression of Lazygirl’s discography and personal growth – debuting in 2017 with lo-fi melodies about a teenager struggling with the first signs of depression, ‘Withdrawals’ shows someone who has come to live side-by-side with their medication, like an old friend.
